TRIG™ — Transport Integrated Gasification

The future of coal isn’t burned. It’s built.

Latitude Energy develops, licenses, builds, and manages projects that convert coal into clean syngas — the building block for hydrogen, fertilizers, fuels, and chemicals.

582MW
Commercial IGCC facility where TRIG™ was validated
5,300+ hrs
Of gasification operations across two independent trains
650,000+ tons

One platform. The entire
syngas economy.

01 — What we do

The cornerstones of modern life — fertilizer, fuel, industrial chemicals — depend on supply chains a single disruption can break. Domestic coal, converted rather than combusted, can secure them.

Develop

Projects, from concept forward

We originate and structure coal-to-products projects around the world — matching domestic reserves to the hydrogen, ammonia, and fuels markets they can serve.

License

TRIG™ technology

We license TRIG™ for chemical and fuel production worldwide — the gasification platform built for the low-rank coals that make up over half of global reserves.

Build & Manage

Delivery and operations

We carry projects through engineering, construction, and operation — applying the lessons of the largest gasifiers ever built in IGCC service.

Coal in. Syngas out.
Everything from there.

02 — The platform

TRIG™ converts coal into syngas — a versatile intermediate that becomes hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizers, fuels, and chemicals. One feedstock. Total independence.

Step 01

Domestic coal

Dried and milled — no washing, no slurry. TRIG™ runs on high-moisture, high-ash coals that conventional gasifiers cannot process.

Step 02

TRIG™ gasifier

A circulating transport reactor with no burners, no molten slag, and no internal moving parts — operating hundreds of degrees below the ash melting point.

Step 03

Clean syngas

Filtered to greater than 99.99% particulate removal and conditioned for synthesis — ready to become the products below.

Ammonia

Feedstock for fertilizers and industrial chemicals

Urea

The world’s most-used nitrogen fertilizer

Hydrogen

Blue H₂ from syngas with carbon capture

Methanol

Chemical feedstock and clean fuel blending

DME

Clean diesel substitute and LPG blendstock

Synthetic fuels

Fischer–Tropsch diesel and jet fuel from syngas

How TRIG™ works
Commercial validation

Not a pilot. Not a demonstration. TRIG™ ran at a 582 MW facility anchored by the two largest gasifiers ever built in IGCC service — and met its design targets.

98.4% of design coal feed. 99.7% of design syngas flow. Roughly 98% carbon conversion. The record is public, and it is the foundation every Latitude project is built on.

Coal is energy security.

03 — Global reserves

1.07 trillion tonnes of proven reserves across 70+ nations

1,160 GW
Global coal capacity

Reserves at current use
70+
Countries with reserves

Coal remains the most geographically distributed and abundant fossil fuel on Earth — available locally, scalable on demand, and independent of volatile global supply chains.

The challenge has never been the resource. It’s what we do with it. TRIG™ unlocks these reserves as hydrogen, fertilizers, fuels, and chemicals.

Built on decades of
development. Run by operators.

04 — About Latitude

TRIG™ was co-developed with the U.S. Department of Energy over more than two decades — from 20,000+ hours of R&D at the national gasification development facility to full commercial operation.

Latitude Energy carries that platform forward: licensing the technology and developing the projects that turn domestic coal into the products nations import today.
